Fixed Rate Mortgages
Fixed rate mortgage information
A fixed rate mortgage offers certainty of repayment amount. The repayments are fixed for a specified period of time, irrespective of changes to the Bank of England's base rate or the lenders standard variable rate. The fixed rate is offered for a defined period of time. After this period the interest rate applied to the loan reverts to the lenders standard variable rate. A fee, known as an early redemption penalty, would apply if the fixed rate mortgage was cancelled within the initial fixed rate period.
