Mortgage brokers can facilitate borrowing for FTBs

Mortgage advice, mortgages

Mortgage lending for first-time buyers (FTBs) is becoming easier according to one industry expert.

Helen Adams, managing director of FirstRungNow.com, pointed out that house prices were "levelling out", making it relatively easier for FTBs to gain a foothold on the property market.

"The lenders are giving a little bit more money and they are lending slightly more regularly now than they were, although they are charging quite a lot," she said.

However, Ms Adams said that the government's autumn spending review could bear a significant impact on the plans of house buyers, as people brace against the possibility of losing their jobs.

Mortgage advice could help prepare house-hunters for these changes and help ensure that they completely understand all the terms and conditions of their financial commitment.

Her comments follow in the wake of recent findings made public by John Charcol, which indicate that there had been an 80 per cent increase in the number of FTBs in July this year.
